CWOP Quality Checked

Member CW2265 of the Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP). The positioning and calibration of the weather station sensors has been carefully considered to maximize accuracy of the readings. We use CWOP to help make sure our data is accurate.The following is data reported to CWOP for Beamsville Weather Station (C2265 in blue) with the predicted data based on surrounding stations (C2265 Analysis in red). Also included is the reported data for the NavCanada Flight Service Station at St.Catharines/Niagara District Airport
(CYSN in purple). St.Catharines is the weather most often quoted by news and
internet sources for the Niagara area. It is 32.5 km from Beamsville Weather Station.

Data Quality:

The MADIS value represents the percentage of observations that have successfully passed the MADIS QC checks. If the Madis rating is within the acceptable limits, a green check will appear. Otherwise, a red x-mark will appear indicating that the data has not passed quality control.

This quality checker was developed by Philip Gladstone, CW0003.

CWOP is a private-public partnership with the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. It's three main goals:
1) To collect weather data contributed by citizens.
2) To make this data available for weather services.
3) To provide feedback to the data contributors so that they have the tools to check and improve their data quality.
